Book Review: The Not So Wicked, Wicked Witch by Amy Purser Carter, Illus by Sarah Markham

As I mentioned earlier this week, we get alot of great books out of Mississippi,
and I am thrilled to bring you another Southern children's author,
on our favorite topic: Halloween!

The Not So Wicked, Wicked Witch cover

Synopsis: The Not So Wicked, Wicked Witch is a charming story about a witch that is wicked in image only.

After reading the story and getting to know Carter's witch, you realize that she has a heart of gold, and is loving inside and out.

kiddo and the not so wicked wicked witch 1Review: Kiddo was fascinated by the pink boa that emerged from the package with the review copy of this book. Then she realized the witch on the cover had one on. AHA, instantly the boa was on her neck, crossed and she was ready to read the book!

As she snuggled in close and anxiously helped turn the pages, she laughed as she discovered a witch who loves pink and cookies and being NICE on Halloween! She laughed with glee, while twirling the ends of her boa!

kiddo and the not so wicked wicked witch 2We had a wonderful discussion about not judging people by their looks, which was great timing with back to school happening in a few days and her having different people in her class this year. She promised to learn about the new people and not to make judgments, and then proceeded to tell me the tale! (the look I was getting was because I was laughing at her 'witch voice' and 'not paying attention'! )

The illustrations are darling and add to the sweetness of the tale.

If you're looking for something DIFFERENT for a Halloween book this year for your kids/grandkids, pick this one up! And if you order through the author, you can order a gift pack with that adorable pink boa (which has not been far from/on Kiddo since we first read the book!) for your little witchipoo too!
