Welcome to our new feature- Pinterest, Fail or No Fail? new meme-
where we take things we find on Pinterest and test
them to see if they are as yummy as they look/sound,
or as easy to make!
For our inaugural post, the boys at work saw this pin of
Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars and screamed for them to be made.
Aha, a challenge had been laid down!
The original recipe came from the blog
Peanut butter, chocolate, yellow cake mix, butter, and sweetened condensed milk.
Oh yes, we were headed to the kitchen!
The only thing I noticed right away was that my pan was too big for the recipe. Now the recipe calls for a 9x13 pan, which I was using. But I would have like to have seen a little more mix on the BOTTOM layer, as you will see, it's THIN. So in the future, I might make 1/2 mix more for the bottom. ALSO my dough was NOT crumbly but more like loose mud. But hey, it spread, so all that mattered, right?
Here's what they looked like going in:
How did the bars look when cut?
You can sigh in desperation at wanting a slice......
Pretty close to the original, I'd say in looks!
And taste?
OH WOWSA.
You know the Magic Cookie Bars?
BETTER.
Seriously...
All the flavors are already melted together and they are heavenly.
I'd tell you what the guys called them, but we're a family blog, but think the letter "O", and you'll catch my drift....
Warning: you will need a LARGE glass of milk or coffee with these!
And you don't need more than a small piece to be 100% satisfied!
Now I didn't melt my chocolate chips ALL the way down, as I did them on the stove top and was at the just about to burn/seize' stage, so I opted to leave some chunks in there. We all liked them this way. You can live without the coconut if you don't like it, but it gives a satisfying flavor/crunch.
So our vote:
NO FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!
MAKE THIS AS SOON AS YOU CAN!
So head on ov er to The Girl Who Ate Everything and get the recipe!
Oh yeah! They look yummy!
ReplyDeleteYum! I wanted to write a weekly Pinterest series called "Pinterest Find & Try" - but I only wrote about one recipe so far (7-Up Biscuits) - which were really good. I need more time to experiment!!! Maybe I can do it one to two times per month at least....
ReplyDeleteYeah- I never see to have the time to TRY the cool things I find, but that is my goal now that school will be back in and I will have HOURS to fill...LOL
DeleteNext up is a crafting project!
