Book Review: Perfect is Overrated by Karen Bergreen

 Perfect is Overrated cover

Synopsis: Think you want to be the perfect mom? Think again…..

Kate Alger has finally found the cure for her post-partum depression.  After years of suffering, all it takes to bring this mommy back to life were a few gruesome homicides!  When someone starts offing the alpha-moms from Kate’s daughter’s preschool, Kate—who worked as an Assistant District Attorney before she had Molly—realizes it’s time to get out of bed, dust off the skills and find out who is killing all the mommies she loves to hate.

Wickedly funny and slightly twisted, Perfect Is Overrated is a romp through the life of one very needy mom, her cockeyed family, gorgeous ex-husband, and the entire insane, entitled, over-dressed , over-zealous, eternally jealous parent body at The Hawthorne Preschool.

Review: Ever read one of those books where you wish you could be best friends with the main character? That you know you two would click PERFECTLY? AND you don't want the book to end, because you want to keep her around? Yup, this is one of those books! Karen based this book on her own experienes with her legal career, motherhood and post-partum depression, added her very sarcastic humor and came away with a winner. In fact, if there isn't a movie made of this book, there are some seriously misguided directors out there!

So yes, I LOVED this book! In many ways it is chick lit for adults. And by that I mean the over 32 years old crowd. There are alot of comments that the over 30 crowd will find hilarious. I have to admit she stunned me with the ending- it made sense and in hindsight, I saw the signs. She wove a good little mystery, and I actually would love to see the main characters back again in another tale. I can see a small series being bloomed with this book! I've off to read the author's other book, Following Polly

If you want a great escape from your life for a few hours (yeah, I finished this one in one sitting too...), check out this book!
