Product Review: Chamilia Bead and Bracelet

I have a super special review today!

Have you ever seen the Chamilia beads and bracelets, but figured they weren't for you?

I love charm bracelets, and have always wanted to try one, but the cost for an initial set up seemed too high, for something I wouldn't wear ALL the time.

So I was super thrilled to be able to review a bracelet and starter bead for Chamilia! It was like an early birthday present!

chamilia snap claspIf you aren't familiar with the Chamilia bracelets, they are slink type, or leather wrap, bracelets with beads that screw on, and the bracelet closes with either a clasp, toggle, screw clasp (on bangle bracelets) or the way more secure hidden snap lock, which encloses the open end of the bracelet, keeping your beads secure.

All you have to do is to push down on the line between the the C's on the clasp and bam, it opens. Super easy, once you get the hang of it!  It is easy to add, or take off more beads, whenever you want to!  In fact, Chamilia even has starter kits, that come with the bracelet and beads (including accent beads)!

There are numerous beads to choose from- occupations, events, places, favorite items and even decorate gemstone ones! It was a hard decision to just pick one! I ended up selecting the 'Believe' bead, that has stars and the sky on one side, and 'believing is just the beginning' written on the other. I think it is very pretty and it always makes me smile, as it reminds me of Kiddo and her affection for stars!

Some of my other favorites were these:

Winnie the Pooh- of course!
Cause you always need your favorite bear with you!

Flutter- Sky- which looks amazing ON a bracelet!
(and also comes in other colors)

and
british tea cup bead
The British Cuppa, which of course, is just TOO cute for words!

I love that you can take the beads and put them on earrings or necklaces, from Chamilia, as well. This gives a whole lot more functionality to the pieces and makes their prices not seem so bad! The one thing I HIGHLY recommend is getting at least 2 lock beads for each side of the main bead(s). The beads aren't very heavy, but they are heavy enough to slide with not much arm movement, so without the lock beads, you have to keep moving your bead back around, and it can get stuck on the screw post at the clasp end (just unscrew to slide back). The lock beads are smaller and lock onto the bracelet, like the clasp does. And they are quite decorative!

I also recommend following the site's sizing instructions EXACTLY for the bracelets. You need to have that extra inch for the beads to move around comfortably and/or have enough room to go on and fill all the way across, at a minimum (the goal is to be able to go all the way around). I wish I had actually added a 1/2 inch more to my size, as it only slides down to where that pesky mosquito bite is showing on my arm, and I would rather it hang down a little farther (toward my elbow) to be more comfortable say when I'm typing. So do keep that in mind!

I think a perfect time to start your daughter on one of the bracelets would be their 16th birthday (they have a 16 charm), or with the Hearts starter set (which includes 2 decorative beads, the heart bead and the bracelet, for $95, a very reasonable price!) as more beads could be added at Christmas, their birthday and special occasions, giving them a wonderful bracelet for their high school/college years. Then they could 'start' over with 'adult' beads!

I love my new bracelet and look forward to adding special beads to it, honoring events and places, that Kiddo and I go, so that when she gets older, I can give it to her! A gift that gives on giving! SO think of the bracelets as a tradition and inheritance to your daughter, and you'll see that they are really priceless!
