CD Review: The Abbey Road Sessions by Kyle Minogue

christmas idea moose

Kyle Minogue has been a fixture on the pop scene her in America, and in her native Australia for over 25 years! So it is sort of shocking that this reworking of her greatest hits, is the first one she has done!

About: The Abbey Road Sessions is an orchestral remix album by Kylie Minogue., that was released late last month! The album features sixteen tracks, spanning Minogue's 25 years in the music industry, that have been reorchestrated and changed, as well as a new song titled "Flower", which was released as a single to support the album. The album was recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios, hence the name of the album (doesn't it still seem weird to say album, when it's on cd? Just saying...).

Tracks included are:

  • All the Lovers
  • On a Night Like This
  • Better the Devil You Know
  • Hand On Your Heart
  • I Believe in You
  • Come Into My World
  • Finer Feelings
  • Confide in Me
  • Slow
  • Locomotion
  • I Can't Get You Out of My Head
  • Where the Wild Roses Grow
  • Flower
  • I Should Be So Lucky
  • Love At First Sight
  • Never Too Late

Review: I have always liked Kyle's music and this album is a very nice departure. It brings maturity and richness to her songs.I don;t think we've ever truly heard the range of Kyle's voice, but with these arrangements, you really get to hear it! I can't tell you which song is my favorite- there are so many on the album that are stunning and a delight! My only fault with it is that I think Locomotion should have been left off. I know, I know- but the remix just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the songs. Even Can't Get You Out of My Head fits well. Where the Wild Roses Grow isn't changed hardly, but it fits perfectly into the theme. This is one of those cds that when you first put it on you think 'adult music' and then you realize it's more of an absence of teenage angst that will have you swaying and dancing to the music and thinking THIS is what 'adult music' SHOULD be! Mature, thought provoking and melodic! In a way it reminds me of a compilation of James Bond movie songs- you know what I mean- moody, dramatic and enchanting at the same time!

It is the perfect cd to play in the car or at home during the day, to get you through household chores and leave you humming the choruses!

Having a Christmas party? This would be a great for the background music- it's lush, danceable and different!

It even has Kiddo's stamp of approval- she decided it was perfect for 'floating along with' while pretending to be a fairy!

So if you are looking for a great new cd to add to your collection, check out The Abbey Road Sessions today!
