Product Review: Campbell's Skillet Sauces Make Your Life Easier!

Have you seen those cute little packets by the box dinner kits, that say Campbell's Skillet Sauces, and wondered how they tasted?

Well we did too! So when we had the opportunity to try some of the selections, we happily agreed!

Campbell's Skillet Sauces are aimed at providing a quick and easy way to get a delicious dinner on the table in about 15 minutes, providing your family with a great tasting meal, and less stress for you- so important during the hectic holiday season!

We were sent 4 of the 6 selections:

Campbell's Skillet Saucess

Campbell’s Skillet Sauces are available in six (6) great-tasting varieties:
  • Creamy Chipotle with Roasted Corn & Black Beans
  • Marsala with Mushrooms & Garlic- aka the yellow arrow above, which we tried!
  • Thai Green Curry with Lemongrass & Basil
  • Toasted Sesame with Garlic & Ginger
  • Fire Roasted Tomato with Red Bell Peppers & Chiles (not shown)
  • Scampi with White Wine & Garlic (not shown)
These are flavors that we generally do not have everyday! So it is also a great way to try a new taste sensation, without splurging alot of money on them (important in today's economy!)

Kiddo adores mushrooms, and we all like Chicken Marsala, so I thought it would be a great one to start with! In going through the freezer, I realized I did not have any fresh chicken breasts, but had three good size, pre-cooked one. AHA! Exactly what I needed, and weight wise, they were what the instructions called for!

I actually made up the Marsala for lunch, as I figured with salad it would be the perfect family lunch!

Amazingly, the Marsala really WAS ready in just 15 minutes!

They are very simple to make, and I completed the dish, and it's side, with only three easy steps:

1. HEAT.  Heat a tablespoon of oil in skillet over medium/high heat. (Meanwhile I started a pot of water to boil on another burner, for some quick cook pasta).

2. ADD.  Add your chicken (you can use pork, fish or vegetables too), and cook until browned. (Meanwhile I brought the pot of water to a boil.)

3. STIR.  Stir in the Skillet Sauce, over the meat, and heat to boiling. Reduce heat and cover for five minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and/or vegetables are tender. (Meanwhile I cooked the rotini pasta- I wanted something that would 'catch' the sauce.)

4. I then drained the pasta, placed it into the serving bowl, and scooped chicken and sauce on top. Waa-la- ready to serve! Doesn't it look YUMMY?

The packet goes along with one pound of meat and/or veggies. It was enough for 3 adults and one kid (who had THREE servings-so yes, it was kid approved!). If I had been making it for dinner though, I definitely would have made 2 pouches and doubles up on the meat, as we all would have been happy with more chicken!  You could also serve it over rice.

Dad is already thinking we need to try some ground deer meat with the Chipolte Sauce Packet, and we'll probably do chicken chunks and veggies with the Toasted Sesame packet. We're not big Curry fans, so that packet may be going to a friend, who does like it! And we want to try the Scampi with some crawfish! Yup, we are HOOKED on these sauces! And they are SO SO SO simple and quick to make, that anybody can make them! So check them out today, and may your holiday season spicier and a lot less crazy!
