Synopsis: Every Christian parent today wrestles with the challenge of how to raise kids in a God-honoring, morally sound way. In ETCHED . . . UPON MY HEART, Jill Kelly offers up the unforgettable episodes of her life-some sorrowful, others filled with joy-as a "living epistle" to her daughters. For the many other Christian mothers who also long to pass on their hard-won knowledge of God's steadfast love and healing grace to their children, Kelly's down-to-earth reflections provide an inspiring example.
As she writes, "God will break our hearts, but He will hold the pieces. He will cradle us and redeem every tear we cry." Although great personal pain-her young son Hunter's death, her husband's infidelity-informs these pages, Kelly's story is ultimately one of forgiveness, reconciliation, and hope. Through the moments in time that Jill Kelly recounts, readers will recognize the daily reality and eternal value of God's plan for their own lives.

Review: Even before Jim and Jill's story became new on Monday Night Football, they had lived through many crises that had made them a better couple and better parents. But it was the diagnosis of their son Hunter, that truly brought their faith to the forefront of publicity and made Jill a stronger mother. Jill is a model of how perseverance and faith can get you through a whole lot of heartache.
Jill has taken the journals she kept over the years and condensed them into this book, about her life, and that as a mother and wife. So there is a brutal honesty in the chapters that some may find wonderful, and others may flinch from, but all of it good and bad, have made Jill who she is today, and has her on the path she is walking. In fact, she downplays her husbands career, showing him as a dad and father, which to him he IS first and foremost, making them like any other couple/parents. How they dealt with the loss of their son is both heart wrenching and life affirming. That section may be too brutal for some readers,
This is a lovely book, but I'm not sure it's truly a 'parenting' book, as much of a 'how to be a stronger, faithful, survivor of a mother tale. Which in itself, allows you to be a better parent, This is a interesting and honest read, and I highly recommend it for women's bible study groups.
