I took a pattern making glass last year and we learned about the body's Golden Rule, in which different measurements of your body will all come off of your height measurement.
It is pretty freaky about HOW accurate it is, and how apportioned our bodies really are!
Thanks to http://www.education.ucsb.edu for the covered man! |
So if you want to freak out your kids with some simple math, grab the tape measure and this graphic and show them what a math whiz you are, and how God loves math!
The body is an accurate scale based on your height:
For this scale
For this scale
H=full length of body
So measure the person's height and get that number in inches
Now:
So measure the person's height and get that number in inches
Now:
1/2 H=upper part of body (from hips)
1/4 H=length of leg from ankle to knee, from chin to navel
1/6 H=length of foot
1/8 H=length of head crown to chin bottom
1/10 H=face height and hand length
1/12=width of face
Now aren't YOU the genius???????
