Book Review: A Luring Murder by Stacy Verdick Case

We reviewed A Grand Murder last year, and it was one of my favorite books of the year!

So I was thrilled to be asked to review the second book in the series!

A Luring Murder cover

Synopsis: St. Paul, Minnesota Homicide Detective Catherine O’Brien and her loving husband Gavin are vacationing on one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes. When a local is murdered Catherine is tapped to help the small town Sheriff until the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension arrives to take over the investigation.

Catherine is surprised when her partner Louise and Diggs the forensic pathologist, whose crush on Louise is only dwarfed by his own genius, shows up to assist instead of the BCA.

Before long Catherine and Louise discover this sleepy little town has a dark side hidden beneath its placid lake charms. Somewhere in the tangle of cheating and deception is a motive for murder.

Review: When I reviewed the previous book in the series, I couldn't wait for the sequel, along with many other book reviewers, and I am so happy that Stacey contacted me to ask if I would review this follow up! The book picks up literally where the other one ended (how rare is that?)! Catherine is on leave, aka vacation, after the occurrences in the first book and is supposed to be relaxing, but murder finds her and ske can't keep out of it!

It was wonderful to have Louise and Diggs back in the story and rounding out the cast of very likeable characters! Course I did wonder how they all survived without being ate up by mosquitos- having lived in Minnesota, fishing and lake usually equalled being assaulted like a honey pot surrounded by angry bears! But hey, it's fiction, so I was cool with it! LOL I read the book in one sitting, as I couldn't wait to see how Stacy was going to end/solve the mystery!

If you want an enjoyable read, with a strong female characters, pick this one up and make Spring seem just around the corner!
