The shotgun blast catches Detective Matthew Longo by surprise. His world unravels into a nightmare that seemingly won't end. Murder, rapes, pedophiles, the small town of Hutchville, N.Y. is changing. It is up to him to make a difference. While partner Donny Mello is in Italy attending a funeral for a family member who is connected, to say the least, a beautiful F.B.I. agent waits to question him about his family business. Review: This is a cop's book- one that a cop writes for fellow cops.Period. Which is no surprise, with the author's background! The book truly showcases the bad, the worse, the uglier, of the reality of law enforcement, in a way that may seem harsh and unrealistic to those not connected to it. For those that are, they will be able to relate to the main characters and his coworkers and while seeing the probable outcome, will speed read thru the book wanting to see how the characters handle that knowledge. I look forward to Marc's next book!

It's funny how strangers will walk up to a man in a military uniform and thank them for their service to the country, but that same person would never think to walk about to someone in a police uniform and thank them. Like the author says, police officers are those you call when you are in trouble or there is an emergency. Otherwise they are supposed to be exemplary people, whose daily experiences with those 'emergencies' is not supposed to affect them, or color their view of their fellow man. You count on them being there, but give no thought to the 10 hours of stupidity and 2 hours of being fought/chased/shot at, that they may have to deal with in one day at work.Officers go to work every day, like our soldiers, with a prayer that they WILL be going home at the end of the shift, and not laying in a hospital bed or the morgue.

If you're looking for an honest look at what the author calls" those that walk into the battle when others are fleeing", read this book! And then do as the author recommends- thank the next police officer for their service!
