Are YOU Playing Genetic Roulette with YOUR Family's Health?

With the tragedies of Waco and Boston this past week, something got VERY VERY VERY lost in the media- the passing of the Agriculture Appropriations Bill, which is commonly known as "the Monsanto Protection Act" by the President.

For those of you not aware of what this act is, let me make it very simple: 

Hidden with the act is the VERY simple, and VERY harrowing fact that it now bars federal courts from being able to halt the sale or planting of controversial genetically modified (aka GMO) or genetically engineered (GE) seeds, no matter what health issues may arise concerning GMOs in the future.  Yup. The seeds can cause MAJOR damage to humans, and still be allowed to be SOLD. This is unheard of, and it should come to no one's surprise that Monsanto, who produces practically ALL of the GMOS is behind this bill. In fact, our current Ag Czar has worked for Monsanto in various positions, including the highest level of management. Smell something odorous? You should!

GMOS are not simply an engineered seed that is sturdy and bears more product. Their basic DNA is ALTERED with pesticides, to kill the bugs that feed on the product (ie corn), by blowing up their stomachs. This same pesticide has been provide to BIND to the corn's DNA and to live on in the product when it is made into feed for animals, or products for HUMAN consumption. Think about that for a moment. GMO corn is part corn, and part Round Up pesticide.

I was very happy to be able to review Genetic Roulette, this week, which is an award winning documentary about genetically modified products and organisms in the United States. 

The documentary was directed and produced by Jeffrey Smith, the Founder of The Institute of Responsible Technology, (author of several best selling books on this issue.) and narrated by Lisa Oz (wife of Dr. Oz). It's also won two awards since it's release late last year: Top Transformational Film of 2012 by Aware Guide Viewers Choice and the Movie of the Year for 2012 by Solari Report.

This documentary is very well researched and produced. It takes a very complicated topic and brings it down to an understandable level, that everyone can understand and relate to. If you can walk away from the movie NOT wanting to go shake Monsanto and the entire government (including the President), I will be shocked. Not only does the movie provide you with documentary proof, it shows you how the process started, where it went wrong, and how Monsanto was able to literally buy what ever it wanted from our government, at the expense of OUR families lives! 

There is SO SO SO much in this film that will make you sit still and THINK, realize the connections are accurate, and be stunned that NOTHING has been done to STOP the use of GMOS in the US. Especially when other international countries and unions have BANNED them.

The Monsanto bill is scheduled to expire in 6 months, UNLESS the government finds a way to get it made into a different law. PLEASE help the grass roots efforts to KEEP this act from becoming a permanent law, and to INSIST that the government stop LYING to us, and stop the manufacture and use of GMO crops, until PROPER scientific study can be held. Join the Food Democracy, or other grass roots groups like Smith's Institute, and STOP big business from running the government and destroying people to make more money!
