Review: Miss Grace wasn't too sure about this book until she opened it, and then I couldn't get her away from it! She was 100% captivated and enthralled with the pictures. Then came the "MOM, read it ALL to me!". I shouldn't have been surprised, she has LOVED the Audubon Aquarium in NOLA since she was an infant! She has recently taken to a certain geographic magazine and is soaking up info like a sponge on nature and wildlife, so she couldn't wait to turn the pages in this gorgeously illustrated book! Check out the detail above- ALL the pages are like that, and printed on nice shiny paper that just makes them POP!
She also learned quite a bit from the sidebars alone- check out this one on the left about differences between dolphins and fish! We had a full 15 minute conversation on that one alone (thanks to a certain dolphin looses fin movie recently that is on her favorite speed play!)
The books has numerous fold outs and they are just flat out stunning. Miss Grace jumped a bit when she opened the shark one (shown below), as it is pretty intense, but after the initial WOW, she learned about the differences and was amazed. And that 4 sheets of the book unfolded- pretty cool!
She can't wait to go back to the aquarium to see all the animals she learned about in this book, and it would in fact be a great teacher or home-schooling guide for sea life, or for Summer continuing education for parents, taking the kids to an aquarium! It would also be a SUPER birthday gift idea!
