Ah Summer- we come out of the Winter doldrums, and Spring pastels, and seek out metals. Have you noticed how Summer is all about gold, silver, bronze, and jeweled tones?
If you're like me, you have a 'Summer wardrobe for jewelry' besides the one you have for clothes! For me that includes a lot of turquoise and bronze and gold touches. So when I had the opportunity to try out one of Kathy's amazing Out of Time Designs Urban Grunge polymer cuff bracelets, I eagerly said 'Yes, please!"!
As you can see, the cuff bracelet has all of the requirements! At just over 1 1/4", it is a nice size, perfect for wearing alone or together with beaded bracelets. Miss Grace immediately called it my 'beach bracelet', as it has a 'sea gull' on it! After turning it upside down, I realized she was right! In fact, all the motions across the bracelet remind me of wings, so perfect for a 'beachy' look! Luckily it is TOO big for her, otherwise she would have absconded with it! I love my bracelet and have received numerous compliments on it every time I wear it! No one could believe it was NOT made of metal!
Let me tell you a little about how Kathy makes these uber-cool looking bracelets!

The bracelets are built on an aluminum bracelet blank, that stays in the bracelet to give it added strength. They come in the large 1 1/4" size, and the smaller 3/4" size. Polymer clay makes up the outer baked layer, then on the Urban Grunge bracelets she adds several layers of clay in different colorations, sometimes baking the bracelet several times. Then using alcohol inks, patina's, sandpaper and assorted other implements, she gets the unique get the finished look. Each bracelet can take several days to make, due to the many layers of coloring that need to dry in between. What you see that you think is metal is actually a museum quality paste applied to mimic metal. She also goes around those areas with a patina, that mimics rust, or the greenish look, that oxidizing copper gets. As you can see, each one is truly one of a kind, because of all the work that goes into them.
Here's another one of my favorites- it sorta scream NOLA to me!

Kathy takes special care with her packaging, as you can see by the tags that came with the bracelet in the collage above. She also has unique boxes, so that every purchase is a work of art from the inside out!
