This week we'll be talking about some great new kids books that teach important lessons!

Jonathan James and the What If Monster cover

Synopsis:
Jonathan James and the What if Monster addresses the "what if" fear we all have in a story book that relates to both kids (and adults).  There is also an adorable what if monster plush as well (that is sitting on my lap as I type this). So now he will help me with the thought, "what if nobody will respond to my e-mails?"

Whenever Jonathan James finds himself in a new situation, he hears his What if Monster asking all kind of questions to stop him trying something new: What if it’s scary? What if they laugh? What if it’s hard?  Finally, Jonathan James has some questions of his own: What if they don’t? What if it isn’t? What then?

Jonathan James and the What If Monster

Review:
Miss Grace really liked this book, as it addressed fears she had had (like jumping off the deep end of the pool) and still has (making new friends and trying new activities). She was glued to the pages and we had a long discussion afterwards about facing your fears, and normally how they are never as bad as we think they are beforehand! It was another book she wanted to take to school to share, so I know it really resonated with her. The prose is simple, the colors are bright, and most young kids will easily relate to it. We highly recommend it, especially for the new school year, as young kids face many of their fears!

Be sure to check out Michelle's blog post for some great ideas about reading this book with a class, or how to use for back to school!

About the Author:
I live in Lilburn, Georgia and I have the great privilege of getting to be an author and illustrator for EDC Publishing. After about 10 years eeking my way towards that goal while working full-time as a mother and graphic designer, I am finally doing it full time.I travel to schools all over the United States reading them my books, talking about my journey and encouraging them to follow their dreams - with everything they’ve got - no matter what! Because my life is magical, it truly is! When I am not traveling I am busy being silly and having fun with the loves of my life - my husband Kevin, my son Noah, my daughter Sophia and our four crazy dogs. They are all my everything and I love them more than bees love flowers! Check out her website for more info!
