This book would be a brilliant birthday present for an older teenager, a co-ed going off to college, or graduating and starting their first job. The 50 included looks cover daytime (like above), evening and special occasions, so there are looks for every aspects of their lives. Entrup starts out with the basics- products he loves and ones that should be in every makeup case. Then he goes through the 50 looks. Within each look, there are illustrations and pictures to show you how to achieve the look. There are also pointers that you may not be aware of, like using blue eyeliner under shadow to make eyes pop, that celebrity makeup artists know! Some of the looks are definitely runway looks, and may only be appropriate for evenings out (like below) and high glam events, but it is great to have all of them in one place.
The book is rounded out with makeup tips and ideas for all ages. Entrup does a good job explaining the whys behind his thoughts in this section (like how over 40 the eyelid loose elasticity and drawing a perfect cat's eye might not happen (who knew?), making it the first one you should read, after the intro on the basics! I love that he also has tips for what to do if you get makeup errors- how to fix easily, without having to start ALL over- you've been there, you know how maddening that can be! You'll feel like you're getting an inside course of makeup application, by the end of the book! With this book, anyone can create stunning looks, and take their makeup routines to new (and quick!) levels, including harried moms!
