Book Review: The Last Shot by Mike Faricy

Disclosure / Disclaimer: I received this ebook, free of charge, from NetGalley for review purposes on this blog. No other compensation, monetary or in kind, has been received or implied for this post. Nor was I told how to post about it

We've reviewed Mike's books before and I read this one back in February,
just got bogged down and forgot to post the review!

Mike's latest book in the series came out March 23rd, so the timing isn't too bad!
LOL

The Last Shot cover

Synopsis:
This book continues the Dev Haskell - Private Investigator series. Dev Haskell decides the best thing he can do is turn down Desi Quinn's request for help. He's not the guy to get involved in a long term investigation that's guaranteed to cost Desi a small fortune and offers little promise of results. That's before events take a turn for the worse and now Dev has a debt to pay. Can low-rent-loser Pauley Kopff and squeaky-clean Citizen of the Year, Gaston Driscoll really have something to do with Desi? Add an exotic dancer named Brandi, born again Swindle Lawless and Detective Norris Manning into the mix and you've got the perfect recipe for a classic suspense thriller. Dev lets go only to grab a bigger piece, but every time he thinks he's found the answer more questions arise. Between the humor and sex, Dev gets deadly serious, after all, it is his Last Shot.

Review:
Dev is a character that defines 'quirky', but is also lovable, loyal, trustworthy and doggedly stubborn. Pretty much everything you want in a great lead character! As always, Mike's books are 'can't put own', roller coast ride, that feature a few twists to keep the reader laughing, shaking their head and anticipating the next chapter with glee! I know when I pick up a Dev Haskell mystery that I'll finish the book with a smile and a satisfied smile, something Dev would be thrilled with! This book continues that curve and adds some killer touches that are truly unique to Mike's books! If you want a fresh take on the murder mystery series, you've got to read this book! Then go back and check out all the previous books, and be sure to pick up book 7, Ting-a-Ling, at it's special 'just released' price! You'll be VERY happy you did!

About the Author
Mike Faricy is the award winning author of mystery suspense thrillers woven together with a rich strain of humor and even some romance. He and his wife live in Saint Paul, Minnesota and Dublin, Ireland. Hey you have to love an author that can PLAY the bagpipes, right????

His entertaining tales are populated with the sort of quirky, oddball characters we’d all like to know more about, but wisely prefer to keep at a distance. They serve not so much as examples as they do warnings to the rest of us. None of his characters will be saving the world from terrorism, international banking conspiracies or coups to topple the government. Rather, they’re individuals inhabiting a world just below the surface of polite society. The difficulties they find themselves in are usually due to their own bad decisions, but then, bad decisions make for interesting tales.

All of his books are stand alone, read them in any order you wish. Russian Roulette introduces the bizarrely devilish Devlin Haskell as a PI with a foot on both sides of the law. Dev’s adventures continue in Mr. Softee and the soon to be released Bite Me. Mike is currently working on his latest top secret project. He graduated High School from St. Thomas Academy and earned a BA in history from St. Norbert College.Connect with MikeTwitter FacebookGoodreads
