Today I've got not one, but THREE great kids books for you this Easter season.

Our first entry is one that tells the true story of Easter....

The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story cover

Synopsis:
'He has risen!' Mark 16:6 Brother and Sister have come to value all the candy and Easter eggs they get on Easter morning. But a much more important value gets emphasized one Eastern morn when Papa read them the Easter story (featuring people not bears).

Review:
This wonderful story is aimed at kids ages 4-7, and includes stickers for the kids to use to retell the story themselves, or to use in the book. As you can see it is easy reading for early readers to read themselves.

I love that it stresses more the resurrection and what that means for us, than it does are the harshness of Jesus's death. For younger kids, that can be upsetting, but this book does a wonderful job (as all the Berenstain books do) in presenting the Easter story in a lovely way. In fact, it makes a wonderful light reading for say Sunday school or for reading during Easter week, and then reading the bible story itself on Good Friday! We highly recommend it!

About the Authors/Illustrator:

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005, and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from the family home and studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.
