Today I have a LOVELY children's book that would be wonderful for grandparents to give to their grandkids, or godparents to godchildren!

Synopsis:

What child doesn't love to receive mail? What if that child could receive, open and read his or her own personal mail from God?  Love Letters from God will invite them to do just that! Accompanying each story in this unique children’s Storybook Bible is a very special and encouraging letter, each tucked away in its own lift-the-flap envelope, just for them, written to them as if from God Himself.  Parents can fill-in each letter with their children's names for a personalized gift.

Written for children ages four to eight, the Love Letters from God includes eighteen of the most popular Bible stories—nine from the Old Testament and nine from the New Testament. Following each story the child will find his or her own letter from God. Children will love the excitement of opening the letters! Each letter elaborates on the Bible story being told. A very special Bible verse, entitled God’s Wonderful Words To You accompanies each story and letter. This book culminates in an invitation for the children to write their own RSVP to God.

Review:

This is a LOVELY book, and being able to add your child's name to each letter makes it SO personal. I can see where this could also be a family book, with alternating letters to different children, and the book being used for family bible time! Which is why it would be a great gift from grandparents to all their grandchildren in one family!

The book is 38 pages long, and each story is it's own two page spread- allowing for the beauty of Sophie's illustrations and 'collages' to shine beautifully! The story itself is modernized to a level that children can understand, and while this is good, it can also be subject to issues, which is why underneath the title of each story is the location of where to find the story in the Bible. This way parents can choose to read the bible version as well, especially for older kids, and to offer further discussion on the story. Each story also contains a box titled "God's Wonderful Words to You" , that offers a Bible verse to go along with the current story.

All in all this is a lovely book, and it is not meant to be the end all of bible study for young children, but a starting point for those really younger than 7. With parental assistance, it can be a great groundwork, on which to build your children's understanding of God's word and love, and we highly recommend it!
