How did Lisa become Martha Stewart's trainer?
I met Martha in a little home town gym I was working at, doing body makeovers, and she used to watch me transform them in less than two weeks. Martha wanted to do a makeover and asked if she could workout with me. I know who she was at the time or I would have been too scared to be myself and tell her what she needed to learn, so I treated her like every other client and I think that’s what changed everything for her. I also bonded with Martha immediately because I knew what it was like to not like myself every time I looked in the mirror. I also knew her stress levels played a huge role in her weight loss or lack of it. I love to see people change their body and the best part is how it affects their whole life. I get emotionally attached to each and every client and I care about their results more than my own.
So, I dig deep with every client I see or person I help and I think that’s what Martha saw. I wasn’t going to quit on her and I believed in her! I guess you can say I fall in-love with every person I meet and I truly care about them NOT just success but them on the inside! That’s why they call me the emotional surgeon! I dig deep and help people change from the inside out not the other way around! Most programs couldn't care less if you’re happy and fulfilled on the inside as long as you look good. I’m not happy with a makeover unless I’ve helped people change on the inside so the change lasts or is permanent and they are genuinely happier and healthier! I guess you could say I cared enough to make a difference and that’s what made me different from all of the other trainers Martha had previously!

Review:
This book is the author's plan for adjusting your metabolism, via the use of supplements, diet and exercise. In theory that puts it where most diets are. Lisa is very personable and she makes the diet plan very accessible. If you are a busy person on the go, then the heavy use of shakes and supplements will probably work into your schedule easier. If you're having to cook for a family, you may find that the diet plan is very limited and you may be having to cook your meal, and one for your family, which of course may not be great for the busy mother of young children. I would say this diet plan is better suited for older adults, with no kids in the house, due to it being so limited. Kids will not be able to keep to the diet, as dairy is a no-no and they need the calcium. Not to mention kid food would be a huge temptation. It is the basic 3 meals with alternating snacks, to keep you fueled and happy all day long. The diet plan itself is Mediterranean based, heavy on veggies and limited meat. Which is what helps you loose the weight. But due to the limitations, it could be very hard to stay on (I know I would not be able to, as I dislike most of the approved veggies). The exercise plan is pretty good, and Lisa does a great job in discussing portion control and why some foods really put the weight on, instead of helping you to loose it. If you need a strict diet to keep you focused, then this might be the diet for you, as it should really work. If you need more flexibility, then you may want to read this for the info on supplements and foods, and use those as a basis for a diet you can stick with.
