when calls the hearts season 2 abnner

About the series:

This series is inspired by Janette Oke’s bestselling book series about the Canadian West. When Calls the Heart tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal mining town where life is simple, but often fraught with challenges. Lori Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion.

The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go to work in the mines to keep a roof over their heads. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) who believes Thatcher’s wealthy father has doomed the lawman’s career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate’s daughter. Living in a turn of the century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.

The fan-base organically grew and started calling themselves #Hearties on social media. Today, they are a force of over 22 thousand!

We were offered the chance to review the Season 2 premiere, ahead of it's release, and I called on one of BTHM's reviewers, and her teenage daughter, to review it, as they are VERY much #Hearties, so I knew they would be over the moon to catch the episode early! So here is their review!

Review:

The long awaited premier of When Calls the Heart Season 2 premier features beautifully upgraded costumes and scenery. Picking up the the storyline from Season 1, Jack accompanies Elizabeth in her travels to see her mother,  who has fallen ill. While there, she reunites with an old friend. Meanwhile, back in Coal Valley, Abigail and the other widows prepare for the coal mine explosion trial. In the season 2 Premier we see old friends and new faces, unexpected twists and all the love we've come to expect from this lovely series on the Hallmark channel. The episode leaves you wanting for more, and we can't wait for Season 2 to begin!

Additionally we wanted to note that this is a series that our entire family can watch, from ages 4 up, we ALL love this series. It is quality television, and offers plenty of plot lines for family discussion, after the show has ended (there was a lot of guessing during the long wait for Season 2, as to how the TV series would evolve. We're thrilled that there are still FAMILY series out there!
