Using two pieces of circle-shaped flatbread, you can help your kids create their all-time favorites of ham, turkey, bologna, cheese, PB&J or hummus sandwiches. Just cut Kontos Flatbread into fun shapes – such as triangle wedges, small circles, squares, hearts, star shapes, etc. – and you’ve found a creative, fun alternative to boring, everyday, squishy white bread.

Fun-shaped flatbread sandwiches are not only delicious, but they also travel well when wrapped securely in your favorite lunch container.

Flatbread Finger Sandwiches

Ingredients
2 pieces of Kontos Foods Pocket-Less Pita, white or whole wheat
2 slices of your favorite lunchmeat – ham, turkey, bologna or roast beef
2 slices of your favorite cheese – Swiss, American or Muenster
Lettuce and tomato, if desired
1 tbsp mayonnaise or mustard

Directions
  1. Spread one piece of flatbread with your favorite condiment, such as mayonnaise or mustard.
  2. Place meat and cheese slices on the bread, plus lettuce and tomato if desired.
  3. Top with your second piece of Flatbread.
  4. Cut sandwiches into as many shapes and sizes as you like. Metal cookie cutters are ideal for this.
  5. Wrap, two at a time, tightly in plastic wrap or foil, and enjoy!

For families watching their carbohydrates, you could use the Kontos Greek Lifestyle Flatbread, a pocket-less flatbread with more protein, fewer carbohydrates, sugar and calories than other flatbreads, instead. And, for those non-sandwich eaters, try cutting your Flatbread into strips, pop into a small container, and enclose a personal-sized container of hummus for a seriously healthy treat, that still packs a protein punch.

“This lunchbox-ready flatbread idea is a tasty, kid-friendly alternative to the monotony of sliced sandwich bread. Kids will love the fluffy, delicious texture of Pocket-Less Pita, and the many shapes make easy-to-hold finger sandwiches that are fun to eat,” said Steve Kontos, vice president and owner of Kontos Foods.

Kontos Pocket-Less Pita and Greek Lifestyle Flatbread care available at retailers around the country, and world wide. You can check out the Kontos website for a retailer near you!
