Back in 2011, I shared with you a review of Lazarus Awakening from Joanna. Now there is a wonderful DVD companion to the book, with Teaching Guide, that allows for readers to get so MUCH more from the original book!
There are 8 DVD lessons, and each lasts about 15 minutes and the perfect length to start discussion with, as well as to reenforce the reading from the book for the day's study. There is also a bible verse to memorize each week, much like the kids learn at school! If you thought Joanna was a great author in the book, you will love her as an instructor in the DVD series! She really shines as she shares instruction, thoughts and stories in the episodes, and helps viewers apply the bible to their lives, and that of their families..
This is actually a 3 disc set-2 DVDS for the episodes, and special "Israel Moment" bonus videos, that explore the land that shaped Jesus's life. The extra DVD contains leader resources, including a retreat guide. When added with the Lazarus Awakening Study Guide book, you have a very complete teacher's guide that allows anyone to become the guide for the bible study program, for any group. The Study Guide includes questions to answer from the video, a note taking area, discussion questions to ask and more. You could either buy one study guide and print what you need, or get everyone their own study guide for personal devotional time and usage as well (helpful if they have to miss a session). Lazarus Awakening has also be rebadged, to match the covers of the the Guide and DVD set.
This is a great bible study program, especially for women, but it can also be used for teens. We highly recommend is as a great Fall possibility, if you are looking for a new program!
