It’s about letting the awesome power of God work through you to do things you never thought possible. With section headings like “Master Moment” and “Ways of Wisdom,”, kids will learn the highest, truest, and most rewarding way to a life of wisdom, apprenticing with the Ultimate Master himself—Jesus Christ.

Review:

This devotional's cover is sure to attract the eye of any Star Wars fan, and the way it is set up will help to engage pre-tweens in the dialogue of studying a bit of scripture, and applying it to their lives. It is not meant to be a through devotional, but a means to start younger kids on their way of devoting time EACH day to reading a portion of the bible and applying it to their lives. The book is very small, making it perfect for taking while traveling over the holidays, or for sliding into a stocking, say with movie tickets to see the new Star Wars movie together. This is a fun devotional, and I can see giving it to young boys, especially as a great holiday gift, that keeps on giving!

Andi Unstoppable by Amanda Flower

Synopsis:

Andi Boggs and her best friend Colin Carter are at it again … in this third book of the Andi Boggs series, Andi Unstoppable, school has begun for the two Killdeer middle schoolers and the science teacher has a great idea! He is an expert birder and wants his class to share in the fun. In a birding group with Colin and her biggest school rival, Ava, Andi sets out to be the first student in class to spot the elusive Kirtland warbler but ends up spotting the town’s resident ghost instead!
Together with her friends, Andi takes on another small town mystery—is the legend of the ghost of Dominika Shalley more than just a story? And does her sudden appearance have anything to do with the holes the friends find in the Shalley graveyard as they look for the rare bird?

Review:

We had not read any of the books in this series (Andi Unstoppable and Andi Under Pressure), but Miss Grace was able to jump right in and enjoy this book with ease, as Amanda gives you enough info to know what has happened before to Andi and Colin. For parents who grew up with Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, this series is a breath of fresh air, with books that introduce characters who think before they act, and start your kids out for a love of mysteries. Miss Grace really liked the the fact that Andi and Colin were best friends, even though they are girl/boy,and that they work really well together, as a team. Its a simple mystery with some twists, and it had her glued to the story and begging for the other 2 books when she finished! Miss Grace highly recommends giving the entire set of Andi books as a fun Christmas gift for yoru favorite tween!
