Winter is upon us and for many of you, that means very low temps, snow and a heater running non stop (that would NOT be us, we're still in shorts most of the day and only running the heater for a couple of hours in the middle of the night- VERY confusing to us, the animals and plants!)

What that ALSO means is low humidity levels in your home. Now normally we think of low humidity as a GOOD thing. But did you know that it can negatively affect your body by producing chapped lips, and a scratchy throat? Those low levels can also negatively affect your wood furniture, your expensive artwork and even your wine! Your house should be at 40-60% humidity all the time!

Honeywell Top Fill Console Humidifier 1

A multiple-room humidifier, like the new Honeywell Top Fill Console Humidifier is one option for protecting your sinus system, and items around the home,  as it releases soothing, invisible moisture into the room. It is designed for extra large or multi-rooms. Evaporative humidifiers like this, use a fan to pull dry air from a room through the saturated wicking filter. Then moisture from the filter evaporates and is pushed back out into the room with the fan!

As you can see, it has not 1, but 2 chambers to put water in, for a 3 gallon capacity! That means less time you have to spend filling it repeatedly! Plus, you can remove the chambers, fill at the sink and then bring back to the humidifier, easy peasy! Plus, the durable tank design resists breaking! When you have kids, that is a great feature to have!

The Honeywell Top Fill Console Humidifier has three speed settings to adjust moisture output and sound level, so you can find a comfortable setting, based on your room's/house's needs!

It is super easy to unbox and start using this humidifier too!

Honeywell Top Fill Console Humidifier quick set up instructions

These Quick Start instructions are actually printed ON the inner box top! Yup- no more trying to read the manual to get started- you just look at the box! And as everything is in place, all you do is remove the packing materials and you're ready to start Step 1!

Step 1 is to remove the 2 tanks and fill with water. If you're like me, that means, it might be a bit heavy carrying the humidifier to another room, so I did the prep in the kitchen, then moved the humidifier, and the filled and placed the tanks, making it much easier to lift! Note- you should have a towel down under the humidifier, if using on a wooden surface, in case of spills, and droplets from the fan.

Step 2 is to pull off the main compartment lid, and pull out the wicking filter, which removes impurities from water, while reducing white dust and providing clean moisture output. they are protec antimicrobially treated,  to help inhibit the growth and migration of mold, algae and bacteria on the filter!

You take it to the sink and soak it with water, being sure to get it completely wet.

You'll know you've gotten enough water in it, when you see it all turn from bright white to beige white!

Then merely put it back in place, replace the cover and add tanks back, and boom you're ready to start using the humidifier. HOW easy is that?

The Honeywell Top Fill Console Humidifier's adjustable humidistat automatically turns the humidifier on and off, to maintain set humidity levels. You don't have to worry about changing the settings while it's running! It even lets you know “Humidity Reached” with a green light on the display! AND it also has a “Tank Empty” indicator light! So you'll know at a quick glance, that it's time to add more water! I love worry free home appliances, don't you? The Humidifier can run up to 24 hours, with both tanks filled, on its low setting.

  7. The beginning fo the video where it talks about what happens when winter comes inside your home. I was amazed to hear that it is as dry as the Sahara Desert. That explains why my skin is so dry and itchy each winter.

  8. I'd have to be a little selfish and keep this. I don't have one and could really use it.

  9. Humidity can make your home more comfortable and help reduce static.

  10. That was actually very informative. I didn't realize that the low level of humidity is bad for furniture by drying out the wood. Or that increasing humidity will help to prevent static shock.

  13. This is the first humidifier I have used and I found it extremely easy to operate... It is very quiet on night running just when we need it and we have already noticed improved breathing and comfort at night, ameliorating the effects of dry central heating.
