Miss Grace LOVES her super heroes, but they do seem a bit male-centric, don't they?
While the alure of Spider Man and Super Man is understandable, it's natural for girls to want to see more than just Wonder Woman and Supergirl, right?
DC Comics understands and has come to the rescue with their new DC Super Hero Girls Youtube Channel, which makes it easy for Miss Grace to catch the shows, with her new favorite super heroes,, on-demand, and from any device, no matter where we are!
This new DC Entertainment animated series features a dynamic group of Super Heroes on their journey of discovering the power of their unique abilities and friendships. You have Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Supergirl and Batgirl, but also Bumblebee, Katana, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Cheetah, Hawkgirl, Star Sapphire and a couple of boys to round out the group (Hal Jordan and Beast Boy). The crew are navigating all the twists and turns of high school, at Super Hero High. United by friendship, they shine with confidence and courage, especially while they are combating those overwhelming, exciting, and awesomely awkward moments of growing up (sometimes super powers can be super stressful!), like any other teenager!
Check out their a trailer for the show, and sample shows from the You Tube playlist:
As you can see, it is a fun show, and I love how empowering it is for girls, to have this many super heroes! Miss Grace is already addicted to it! I do wish the episodes were longer, with more developed story lines, but it seems like most cartoon series are going this route nowadays. SIGH. But short is better than none, so I'm thrilled to see all the girl empowerment, nonetheless, and you will be too!
The DC Super Hero Girls website also features fun games, like which Super Hero are you, and special downloads, like the first THREE chapters of the upcoming book Wonder Woman at Super Hero High (under the products page, use the arrows to find the link)
In the spring of 2016, the DC Super Hero Girls will come to life with a line of action dolls (like the one shown above of Bumble Bee), figure and accessories, books, play sets and more. Which is SUPER! I'd rather see Miss Grace playing with Super Hero dolls who defend and protect, and provide great moral lessons! That's something we can all stand behind!
