Review:

This modern colorful designed Bible, aimed at kids ages 5-10, is not only fun to look at, but easy and fun to use too! I really like how the Book title pages tell the kids what is the different books, while the Chapter headings (in red) help them to quickly find the ones they need (versus getting lost in numbers).<

You might want to read the question boxes first, so you know what the answers will be, but they are all answered from the bible itself. Kids will find questions like "Do good people, who aren't Christian, go to Heaven?", or "How many wives did they have in biblical times?", that will get them thinking AND asking questions, and hopefully hunting for the answers in the bible itself! The Quest challenges and clues also add a fun game activity, that can make Summer bible reading FUN, and maybe even a team activity! This is a great gift bible, and one that you will want for your own kids too!

This next book doesn't come out until June, but you can pre-order it now, so you'll have it for when the Summer boredom days kick in!

Synopsis:

Did you know that Antarctica’s largest land animal is an insect or that the smallest country in the world is only 0.2 square miles?!

Learn more weird-but-true geography facts with A.J. and Andrea from Dan Gutman’s bestselling My Weird School series. This all-new series of nonfiction books features hundreds of hysterical facts, plus lots of photos and illustrations.

Whether you’re a kid who wants to learn more about geography or simply someone who wants to know if there’s really a town called Scratch Ankle, this geography facts edition is the book for you. With more than 9.5 million books sold, the My Weird School series really gets kids reading!

Review:

This book is also aimed at ages 6-10, 1st-4th graders. Kids this age will really like the bantering, and real-to-life conversations between A.J. and Andrea, and may not realize just how much they are learning, while laughing along! Jim Paillot really takes his My Weird School books to a new level with this addendum to the series, that takes on one subject matter and gives a condensed, easy to access curriculum for kids. This book covers the science of the Earth's geography itself- from how it was formed (you can add your Christian emphasis quite easily), how it changed, how the geography of the earth itself came to be (ie from volcanic eruptions and massive earthquakes)/ Kids this age will really love this section, as it involves their favorite things- volcanoes and natural disasters! From their the science of the Earth's gravity and rotational effect on the land itself is discussed. From there it is off to land masses and ecological systems, other topics kids this age love to talk about! The natural progression is then to countries and the US states. Which pretty much means a whole course in 1 fun book! It would be easy to use the sections for activities, including fun day trips to museums and natural areas. And the kids really will soak in SO much information, they might just surprise their teachers in the Fall! The next 2 books in the series, US History and Science Fast Facts are scheduled for release next Summer. Once the book is released, be sure to check out My Weird Classroom Club, where you can sign up for games, classroom activities, lesson plan ideas, letters from Dan, and more to really keep the learning ongoing!

And staying with the Earth and science theme for the last book today....

Review:

If you have a rock hound, they are gonna LOVE this book! Aimed at ages 8 to 12, (grades 3 to 7), the time period when most kids are REALLY into rocks, this book will grab their attention from the moment you open it! With the AMAZING photos, as you can see, and up close views, kids can really determine if the rock or metal they are holding is the same as what is listed. Plus with the different classification pages, kids will actually be learning while they are turning pages and finding their treasures in the book. This is another book that really lends itself to being used as a class reference, or as a guide to some fun Summer activities. I have to admit, Miss Grace declared this one her fav, and was thrilled with the ebook, as "now I can always have it with me, on your phone, so I don't have to carry the book and loose it!

So as you can see, if you want to enrich your kids' brains this Summer, and give them some great activities, be sure to check out these books!
