Synopsis:

One hundred years ago in this fictional bucolic village, three local families awakened to a horrific sight. In each home, a school girl's corpse had been lovingly tucked into an unoccupied bed. Each girl wore a white nightgown, with hair neatly braided, hands folded on the coverlet—and throat slit. Eerily, no one recognized any of the so-called Sleeping Beauties. Despite a nationwide newspaper frenzy, they were never identified, and their killer was never found.

Now, on the centennial anniversary of the mysterious case, the local historical society has offered a hefty reward to anyone who can solve the 1916 Sleeping Beauty Murders. Mundy's Landing is swarmed by armchair sleuths, historians, true crime buffs, the press, and a few ghoulish crackpots. Lurking amid the carnival-like "Mundypalooza" is a predator who goes by the pseudonym Holmes, a nod to both the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes and 19th Century serial killer H.H. Holmes.
Annabelle Bingham and her family have just moved into one of the three notorious "Murder Houses," unaware that the shadowy Holmes has not only secretly solved the historic crimes, but is about to recreate them, one by one—on location.

Review:

This was such a great page turner that I tried to finish it in one sitting! I couldn't, but I tried valiantly! There is a mystery within a mystery and just when you think you know who the suspect was in the original Sleeping Beauty murders, Wendi throws you a red herring and you question whether you know everything you should. Then once you realize who is the modern predator, you question whether that can be right, and start looking for different clues! Wendi is a master at sleight of hand, and once again she gives us a winner of a tale, that leaves you waiting for the next installment of the Mundy's Landing lore!

Don't miss this book, it will be the talk of the Summer!
