Review:

If you are looking for a different take on the Advent season, bringing in more secular items, like movies and songs, then this is the perfect book for you, easily combining the best of both worlds!

Each day starts with a bible verse, then starts on on the devotional, related to the reading. I found December 7th (an infamous day in its own right), to be a wonderful essay that makes you stop and think! Relating to Willie Nelson's song "Pretty Paper", it nicely ties in the story of Zacchaeus, and reminds us to STOP and see those who need out help, to be like Jesus in that moment, and see those who aren't by others/ It's a great example for kids about follow through on charity during the season. It is followed up by poem It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, which also serves as a reminder as to what Christians should do during the season, and then a 'Pampering Recipe' for homemade soap, that can be given as gifts.

If you are looking for a great Advent study guide for older kids and teens, this would be a great resource, as the recipes and crafts are ones they could handle themselves, and there is a lot of info packed into this small book, that could help tie in lessons from previous Advent seasons (and sermons), allowing them a more adult look at the season. Adults will also love how quickly it can be read each day, and used as a daily reminder for the season. We highly recommend it!
