Review:

this is a book that has such appeal, that the adults may find themselves taking it from their kids and not letting them have it back until THEY have read it all! It has great pictures, as you can see, and also simple explanations, so that kids can read the book by themselves. Taking a historical timeline through the bible (also provided at the back of the book), this book is a great way to put BIBLICAL history into your Ancient Civilations curriculum! The book shows cultural items, like food, jars and houses, as well as mapping areas to show areas under different control, and how war affected them. It is a great way to help your kids see the BIBLE as a historical document!

Each of the 37 chapters includes a 'Did You Know?' caption, with an interesting faact, like the one above, relating to the bible. Many of these refer kids back to an actual bible passage for more information or as a reference. Plus! I also liked how there are a couple of chapters dealing with the Romans, and what happened to the church AFTER Jesus's resurrection, in a historical view point, so that kids can see a LOGICAL time line of how Christianity was basically the beginning of the demise of the mighty Roman empire. Even if your kids JUST read this book, they would come away with an AMAZING amount of history and knowledge.

EVERY family needs this book as a core reference book at minimum, or as a wonderful inclusion to their home school curriculum. It also would be a greta addition to bible study classes, or for Summer bible study, as a great way to keep your kids involved in history, reading and bible over the Summer! We can't recommend it enough!
