Since Halloween items are ALREADY on the shelf!!!! ),
I figured now was a good time to share Carol's latest book in her O Susannah series!

Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump cover

Synopsis:

Susannah Maya Logan is not having a good day. She doesn't want to go to her best friend, Lola's sleepover. Susannah thinks the house is big and spooky, not to mention the ghost that is said to live there. Lola's big brother, Kai, loves to tease Susannah with scary stories.

Throughout her day, she sees people deal with things that scare them. Her sight-impaired friend, Macy, is terrified of unicorns, of all things. She sees a boy at a party who's frightened of clowns. Her teacher is afraid of getting a cold. Susannah realizes everybody is scared of something. She wishes she was more like Lola, who is not afraid of anything, or so it seems.

Susannah discovers people have different ideas of what is scary and what is not, and only they can determine the difference.

Join Susannah as she learns to confront her fears and not let her imagination prevent her from having fun.

Review:

With back to school upon us, so comes the invitaitons for sleep overs and visiting new friend's houses, and exposure to new fears, many kids don't realize they have! So the story comes out at a perfect time! Miss Gracec is a real homebody and not big on sleepovers, so I was interested to see what her take would be AFTER she read the book, and I wasn't surprised when she said she really liked it, and thought maybe she'd accept the next sleepver invite! Yeah! Carol's prose is perfectly aimed at kids, making them feel like they are part of the story and that Susannah is mimicing ther feelings and thoughts. How Susannah and her friends learn to DEAL with their fears is all very important for kids to understand- not everyone deals with things the same way, but everyone should be respected for hoe THEY do! This is an excellent 2nd book in the series and Miss Grace is looking forward to the next book too!
