Review:

This book combines photos, illustrations and artwork, to capture kids attention from the moment they open the book. If you have a budding naturalist, they will be immediately drawn to the bird section, where illustrations show how easy it is to map out a basic bird shape, and then add the details for the birds they've just seen. The pictures are very clear and up close, so kids can see differences and be better able to identify the birds, reptiles and insects they find!

The physical book features a flexibound design, reminiscent of an actual naturalist's notebook (obviously not available on ebook copy!). The book does also provide sidebars and insets, with lots of facts about each featured animal, making it a great educational tool, as well as a journal and art guide! If you are homeschooling, you could easily using this book as part of your animal/forest course!

This book is a SUPER way to get kids OFF technology and back to WRITING and DRAWING in a field guide, as a way to remember what they have seen, allowing them to stay more focused in the moment, and memory! We highly recommend it!
