Alaina is fresh off of hitting the #1 spot on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart with her single “Road Less Traveled,” the film’s title track, which she co-wrote with hit makersMeghan Trainor and Jesse Frasure. The track was released on her hit album of the same name in early 2017. An empowering and autobiographical song, “Road Less Traveled” celebrates authenticity and marching to the beat of a different drum.

DVD Synopsis:

In Road Less Traveled, country music artist Charlotte comes back home to Tennessee a week before she’s set to get married, hoping to borrow her late mother’s wedding dress from her grandmother. But when she runs into her high school sweetheart, Ray, sparks begin to fly. As emotions with Ray get complicated and her record label continues to pressure her to write a new hit song, Charlotte questions if she ever should have left Tennessee in the first place and if she’s even marrying the right man.

Review:

First off, this is definitely a 'chick flick', making it perfect for that last girls movie night before school starts! It might not seem like a goof 'family' pick, but it allows for plenty of discussion- is Charlotte making the right decision, when do we let go of past hurts and assumptions that caused them, do you march to your own drummer and yes, even, do they need to drink so much? I did let Miss Grace watch this movie, as it is her favorite song, and I knew already it was safe enough for her to watch, but it was funny when she turn into a little Temperamist, demanding why they had to drink SO much at the 'bachelor party', why they couldn't just have FUN. Course this is a country kid talking, who insisted Charlotte had to miss all the cool stuff like hanging out by the campfire and lake. I did have to explain that the 'girls' were actually in their later 20s, so it was acceptable. She just saw them as more about 21! LOL, but based on their careers, 27-29 would be more accurate. Which then lead into discussions about how you have to pick your path and what is right for you, which might not be what your family wants. I was actually impressed with how much she GOT from the movie!

Alaina is a great role model in this movie for girls. Miss Grace was quite enamored about how she looked like a 'country girl' and not uber skinny like most girls in movies nowadays, and "has hips like me!". Scary commentary from a 10 year old in some way, but I saw her point and she was right. Alaina looks great, but she isn't a size 0, but she it fit for HER body, and that is perfectly fine. She is a super singer (see video above), a pretty decent actress and very charming. She comes across in all the interviews I've seen as very down to earth, and thankful for the success she has had. All in all, a model for our girls!

No bonus features on this DVD unfortunately, which was the only drawback I could see! But it's a fun movie and we highly recommend it for moms and daughters, or sisters!
