Review:
This is an excellent primer about the history, lore and beauty of turquoise. My grandfather did an annual drive in the desert and brought home multiple piecces of jewelry for all members of the family, most purchased from local native sellers. So I feel like turquoise is part of our history, and many pieces have turned into family heirlooms. I was happy to see many similiar pieces in the book, by some of the same artists, like these shown below:
The pieces in the book are awe inspiring, when you consider how much work has gone into them. Then show not only historical pieces and forms, but new intricate designs. You really get to see how the look andform of turquise has been changed and updated, Which makes it a perfect pice to look at notnonly the history of the Southwest, but of the amazing artisans. If you love turquoise, you'll love this book. It would be a great gift for the turquise lover in your family, and with Christmas on the horizon, it;s one to have on your purchase list!
