Did you catch our review last week about the new educational line from Parragon publishing?

Today I have another book from that line for you, as well as a different book for older kids, that both test what they've learned and are fun!

Synopsis:

Learn and laugh together with the Learnalots in this 500 Question Game Book: First Grade. This question book is filled with educational content, helps strengthen vocabulary, and helps parents and children interact. It also includes riddles and jokes for hours of fun!

Review:

This book is aimed at ages 6-7, but Miss Grace at age 10 had fun flipping through it and seeing how many questions she could get right! It would be a super fun book for road trip boredom *you realize the holidays are COMING FAST) and this book could be a game changer for that ride to Grandma's house! make it a competition, offer prizes, or even a blue ribbon for the champ (make teams if need be)! or just let your kid feast on the cute illustrations by Nikki Boetger, and learn some interesting facts that cover all the basics!

AND

for the older kids, who rolled their eyes at the baby questions,
this new book will have them learning, while they impress YOU with the facts they learn!

Synopsis:

Discover the variety of ways our brains can trick us, from optical illusions to magicians' masterful use of misdirection to strategies used by con artists. Learn why you can't always trust your brain, so you'll be less likely to be swindled, hoodwinked, or bamboozled. Along the way, Brian Z. Brain, an illustrated comic guide, will help explain how your mind works.

Sections include "Can You Trust Your Brain," "Fool the Five Senses," "How Magicians Mess with Your Mind," and "Learn to Be Less Gullible." Woven throughout are various articles that present interesting stories or facts from neuroscience, psychology, and history.

Review:

This book is geared for kids ages 8 to 12, but I would say really up through high school will find the insights about the mind interesting. Teen girls will even find some fashion tips! LOL. Miss Grace was impressed with how EASILY the mind can be fooled, even though we have one of the higher processing brains in the animal kingdom. This book is sure to keep the kids entertained, and telling their friends and family members about the different things they've learned. If you home school, this is a great book to use with your science education, pulling different facts to amaze the kids, and letting them to experiments, based on the facts in the book too!

We highly recommend BOTH of these books for educational FUN this fall!
