As you can see you not only get adorable pictures of puppies to color, but also kittens, birds and adorable snowmen!  both this book and the next one, would be adorable as a set to give to the kids for the long ride to grandma's house this Thanksgiving or Christmas, so they can festoon her fridge with their cute art! Thanks to their being printed on study, perforated paper (our fav) that can easily stand up to markers, colored pencils, gel pens, or even watercolors, your kids can color them however they choose! Plus each design is matched with an inspiring Christmas quote, on the opposite page, allowing for some great thoughts as well..

I love the adorable kittens in this book- the Kitty Angel is Miss Grace's fav, and I have to admit, if you love cats, the prints with the sayings would be great for framing and having around the house for the holidays! If Grandmas loves her cats, then she will really appreciate these colored prints from the grandkids!

Love, Santa by Martha Brockenbrough, Lee White

love santa cover

In a series of letters, a young girl writes to Santa to ask about the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, and of course, Christmas goodies. Year after year, Santa writes back, and a heartwarming relationship develops, until one year, the girl writes to her mother instead: Mom, are you Santa? Her mother responds to say that no, she is not Santa. Because Santa is bigger than any one person -- we bring him out through kindness to one another and the power of imagination. This transformative tale spins a universal childhood experience into a story about love, giving, and the spirit of Christmas

Review:

I don't know about you, but I know I was about 10 when I realized who Santa really was, but I played along for a year, as I could tell it made my mother happy. Now that I'm in that position, I realize how truly amazing the gift is, and WHY we pass on the tradition. This book is an amazing way of breaking the ice for the conversation that all parents secretly dread, as we see it as the end of innocence and belief. Sigh, the big bad ugly world has reared its head.

By reading this book, and the adorable letters included in letter pockets within it, together, parents and kids can understand how similar there tradition may be, and how there IS a way to carry it forward, and to share what the true story means. I'm hoping to get past this year's Christmas without needing the book, and then sitting down and reading the book over the holidays with Miss Grace, while the joy and love is still in their air, and most importantly, in her heart. It's a lovely book and one that I can see being passed around in a family, as each child needs it, and then sharing with friends as well. If you have kids on the cusp of belief, get this book!
