Have you Seen The Glass Castle yet?

It is a GREAT movie and perfect for families with teens to check out together,
especially before the onslaught of holiday visits with/and from relatives.

There is so much that lies beneath the surface of what we share about our families, and this movie (and the book it was based on), really delves into the mirage we present, and truth that lays underneath. But whose truth is it? How we have interpreted life, or life as it was?

One of the things in The Glass Castle is Jeannette's mothers 'art'. Through the movie, we learn how she thought she was much better than she was, but how the family buoyed her attempts and allowed for her 'artistic tendencies'/ So it was  fun surprise to get a bonus with the DVD for review:

A fun paint by numbers kit from Easy 123 Art!

The kit comes complete with a fun scene from one of the family's moves, where they went through the Southwestern US dessert area.

As you can see, every section has it's own paint number section. The kit comes with not 1 but 2 brushes, one super fine, and 1 regular, so you can get into all the tiny sections. And this piece has quite a lot, to showcase the varied dessert background, as you can see below:

That's a lot of brown tones! As you can see a thin coat doesn't cover the numbers completely, so a thin second coat might be needed, for larger areas. We are crazy busy this week, so it will have to wait til next week for us to start on it again, but I wanted to share it with you!  I love the containers- they are easy to open and keep closed! As you can see, we got quite a lot with the kit:

What does make this kit different as well, is that you are painting on canvas, attached to WOOD. This allows you to make a keepsake that will last, just like those in the film! Maybe one day our combined collaboration on this painting will be a hand me down keepsake for Miss Grace!

But what is important is the spending of time TOGETHER, something that The Glass Castle also speaks to. So if you are looking for a great movie for this weekend, be sure to put the Glass Castle on your viewing list!
