Review:

WOW, who knew there was so much you could make FOR your favorite canine? Miss Grace went through the book with me and kept saying "mom, that looks REALLY good!", course when she read some of the ingredients, she was like 'nevermind' (wheat germ anyone? LOL ), but you get the idea. Laid out like a traditional cookbook, with recipes sorted by the type of dog treat, prefaced by a forward section about diet and cooking with better ingredients for dogs. the best part is most of the ingredients are right in your pantry (yes, the aforementioned wheat germ might not be, but it's easy to get at the store). Because the recipes are on the blander side, as many have NO sugar, they are great for dogs. Course you COULD tweak some of the batter and make a sample for the owner too, LOL. This is a fun book and kids especially will have fun making their favorite companion treats and birthday cakes!

This is the second, updated edition of the book, in case you were thinking you had seen it before. It would be a fun gift for the dog lover this Christmas season!

PB MUFFINS

Recipe:

Here's one of our favorite one's from the book- I'd have shown you what they looked like when they were cooked, but between the kid and the dog, they disappeared before I could get a shot in! Apparently, it's a recipe dogs, and kids, adore! LOL

And with only 211 calories and 7 grams of sugar, they're a healthy treat for both!

Peanut Butter Muffins
45 minutes, plus cooling time. Makes 12 muffins

1 cup skim milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, grease muffin tin.

2. In a large bowl, beat together the peanut butter, honey, eggs, vanilla, oil, milk, baking powder, baking soda and wheat flour until fully combined to form a smooth batter.

 3. Spoon the batter into your prepared muffin tin, filling each cup 3/4 full.

 4. Bake muffins for about 18-20 min, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the muffins comes out clean.

5. Cool muffins, then remove from the pan. ENJOY
