If you are snowbound, you may be thinking of sunny Florida.
Now that Else got arrested, the groundhg predicted 6 more weeks of Winter, and the South is clear of snow (!!!), it seems like JUST the thing, right?

Today, I've got not 1, but 2 books by Dave Hunter, that can not only make that trip EASIER, but more fun and educational!

The Midwest must have guide for your drive to Florida.

This book is THE travel bible for millions of Midwestern "Snowbirds" driving annually to Florida. Each colored 25 miles-per-page strip map takes 30 minutes to drive and provides a sense of "pacing" - a great trip planning tool. Gas, food & lodging services are mapped to the east or west of each exit. All accompanied with a comprehensive mile-by-mile travelog to entertain you along the way.

As you can see, you have map routes, showing any toll roads, major interstates, and smaller highways. Then you have maps showing educational and fun stops, along with exits and where your nearest rest stop and food/gas locations are. Yes, you can check all this stuff on your gps map, but what if there is no service? This is the perfect book for your navigator to scroll through and really check out what is coming up and make your trip FUN. There's nothing like a 36 hour car ride to bore you senseless, but with these books, you feel like Dave is right there guiding you along on a magical trip!

THE STORY BEHIND THE BOOK
Dave noticed that Snowbirds often need specific information during their 3 day Florida drive - how to find their favorite gas station or restaurant; whether it was east/west of an exit, etc. Some folk also turned maps upside down to orientate themselves while heading south. So Dave printed his southbound maps with "South" at the top - mapped details now relate to the same side of the car ... just one of the helpful concepts found within the book.

Then once you get to the Florida line, you need the second book:

Dave's Florida driving guide picks up where his other book leaves off. Featuring seventy-seven 25-miles-per-page full-color maps, this book includes detailed information for all of Florida's interstates, expressways and toll routes, along with Dave's personal observations and suggestions . . . not to mention his fascinating trivia.
Packed with information gathered from “locals” and accumulated over 48 years of Florida travel, Along Florida's Expressways useful road information not only includes gas stations, restaurants, and lodgings available at each exit (even which side of the road they are on), but also pinpoints rest areas and much more.

Every two-years, Dave and his wife, Kathy, drive over 5,000 miles to personally gather the material for the next edition of this book, which means that there is always something new and added! Which means your annual trip will never be the same one! You have to love that. Personally I really liked that they included all the hurricane evacuation tips and routes, as that is not something that you think about, as far as stops and places to get gas on the way OUT, when you're 4 hours from home! For us, traveling to South Florida, it is a treasure trove of old Florida lore meets current trivia, and a fun book to have leading you on the way!

Both books feature  aInformation Update website, that supports current edition readers, with map & page updates for major construction changes.

So if you're going to be fleeing to Florida soon, you NEED both of these books, or at least the one that applies to your trip! But reading them both will really help you understand just all the great things this country, and Florida, has to offer the roadside travveler!
