30 Years, and the Newsboys are STILL United!

Peter Furler, the original founder of the Newsboys, from waaayyy back in 1985 (!!) joined the current line up of the Newsboys (lead vocalist Michael Tait, keyboardist and bassist Jeff Frankenstein, drummer and percussionist Duncan Phillips, and guitarist Jody Davis), along with former guitarist Phil Joel, in their Newsboys United concert, that we were blessed to attend this past weekend.

The concert was a surprise birthday present for Miss Grace- can you tell she is excited? The Newsboys were part of her first concert experience, and I knew she would love to see them along with their opening act Adam Agee, the lead singer from Audio Andrelaine, her other fav group! She was also uber excited to get to meet him, as you can see!

But back to the concert:

The Newsboys put on an AMAZING concert experience! As someone who has been to many, many, amazing rock concerts, I can tell you that their production is superior to many I have seen! Their laser light show can be so intense, it even made my cell camera app shut down! You almost are SO caught up in the light show, that you aren't watching the stage!

It was so cool to throw back to the 80s, with Peter on lead, and Phil joining in on guitar, to showcase all their former hits! Miss Grace admitted she wasn't asfond of those early hits, but prefers Michael on lead, Shhh don't tell Peter!

Being in the South, I'm not sure if they were quite expecting the response they got from adding in this chorus to "We Believe":

I think the entire colliseum was singing at the top of their lungs! The fact that the song was followed by an Easter sermon from Rev Billy Graham, was even more appropro and had the crowd jumping. Course I had to laugh at the teen group that was smiling and enjoying Miss Grace pogoing to "God's Not Dead" a few minutes later! One of them later told me "she was SO filled with the Holy Spirit, you could just SEE it coming out from her". Words that make EVERY mother cry!

And that is one of the reasons I REALLY recommend this concert, if it's coming to your town. All the singers involved spoke SO SO SO much truth. Even when Michael asked if we just give LOVE not HATE to our fellow people, could we STOP the vioence that continues? For teens, this is a powerful message, but t hear, and see, HOW the holy spirit spoke through the entire crowd, really helped to remind her of what her FAITH is and should be. When your kids are slipping in their faith, a concert like this is a great reminder and help.

Miss Grace was so filled with compassion, that she offered up her MONTHLY allowance, to pay half of what would be needed to sponsor a child through Child Fund International. By giving up my weekly coffee shop visits, we found a way to give that LOVE back, to a wonderful girl who loves school and acats, Yasmin, from Brazill! Miss Grace can't wait to stat writing and sending her presents!

And there was the surprise bonus: getting to meet the Newsboys!

"I'm never gonna wash my hand!" Yeah that got alaugh from everybody...

So if the Newsboys United tour is coming to your area, we 100% recommend taking your family too It;s an experiencce, none of you will forget!
