So HOW BORED ARE your kids yet?

LOL, if yours are like mine, they've gone through all the craft stuff you had lined up and are screaming "I'm BORED' already!

So how about a new kit that can take them into the fall,  that can offer hours of fun?

Meet their new friend:

3Doodler Creative

No, this isn't the same 3Doodler , from that great Kickstarter campaign for the best-selling 3D printing device of all-time, but the NEXTgeneration of 3D printing pens: the 3Doodler Create+.

If you can imagine it in 3D, the 3Doodler Create+ will let you make it! The Create+ introduces the world’s first dual drive system in a 3D printer, leading to effortless loading, of filament, and operation, for a wider range of materials. Other major improvements include a new heating algorithm for enhanced performance (with low and high heat settings), auto retraction of your filament to prevent oozing, auto sleep for safety, and better fast and slow flow settings. This isn't the 3D pen you've tried before- it gives you better control AND performance!

Like the original 3Doodler, the 3Doodler Create+ is easy to use right from the box! When you plug the power cord into the pen, it does NOT turn on! You have to manually turn on which setting you want (PLA, ABS and FLEXY plastic setting), so that it keeps it from automatically heating up when you don't want it to! LOVE this safety feature! Once you turn it on, the end light will turn RED.
About 20 seconds later, it will be ready, and the light will turn blue (as you can see in the above picture). Then you add your filament into the feed hole, and press the fast button ONCE. It will draw your filament down (you will hear the drive working) and then you will see your filament in the side window. After that, it is about 10 seconds and your ready to go, once the drive stops.

By having both fast and slow flow speds, YOU can control how much filament comes out and when! When you press the speed button to STOP it, it stops and the filament automatically RETRACTS to keep it from oozing. Which means your filament will last a LOT longer. You can do traditional 3D pronting, or you can 'write' on paper, and make great designs to use in different art projects, like above. Miss Grace had me write out Faith, Hope and Love, and she wants to add them to a painting project she is working on, when it's done (she LOVES collage art!). As you can see from the L above, I didn't get all of the previous red out (oops), and it ended up being a bit multi colored, but she like it, as 'love is always red like our hearts". LOL

When you do want to change colors it is VERY simple! You simply press the fast flow button twice rapidly in sucession and the drive will enact and eject your filament. Can't get easier than that! As you can see from my first picture, your filament will have a melted end, which you will need to snip straight, before using that filament again. As you can see above, Miss Grace had fun making her first 3D project, a 'blue bug'. There was a bit of an accident with one wing, but he's still quite cute. Something I loved while she was working was the auto sleep feature, so that when she put the pen down, it didn't keep heating up, but went to sleep, but was quick to 'wake' up with one touch of the flow button! This kept my table from having any 'oopsie burn marks' on it!

3Doodler Creative+ set

I was perfectly fine with letting her creative with the new 3Doodler Create+ on her own, as I knew that I had the tools (included with the set) for any jams, and we had PLENTY of filament! In fact you get the most plastic filament included of any 3D pen sets on the market! In this set you get:

- 1 3Doodler Create+ 3D Printing Pen (available in 4 color options)
- 2 Packs of ABS Plastic (50 strands in 10 colors- both basics and flourescents)
- 1 Pack of PLA Plastic (25 strands in 5 colors)
- 1 Ultimate Guide of Doodling (which includes 5 projects)
- 1 User Manual
-1 Set of Maintenance Tools (includes 3 pieces)
- 1 Power Adaptor

create+ usages

You can use your 3Doodler Create+ for writing like I did, for traditional 3D drawing, and even for joining! This last part can be really helpful when you need to 'fix' plastic items like cords and cases!

Miss Grace used all 3 of those techniques when she designed a candle holder- she used the template from the design book, as her base, made 4 sides, each with a freehand design on it, and then joined them together. She also used multiple colors after she had the sides together, for a little more drama! It was hard to get a picture when the candle is lit, but it looks really great and the colors light up!

Let me show you a video about how easy it is to use the 3Doodler Create+ and just what you CAN make with it!

They even have a new Create+ Product Line.  which includes a range of on-trend Home Décor & DIY Project Kits (like bookends, lights and party decor) and several STEM-focused products (like Robotics) that are both fun and educational!  The creative Doodling possibilities are endless! Miss Grace will be taking an Engineering/Architecure class in the Spring, and she can't wait to use this pen on her projects, having seen the 3Doodler Create+ Falling Water kit! Be sure to head over to their website, to get your FREE copy of the EdWeek Spotlight Report, that shows you how you can see the 3Doodler Create+ in classrooms!
