We're participating for the first time this year, and I hope these posts will be a great help to you if you already homeschool, are looking at homeschooling, or just need some parenting advice!
Today our topic is Motivation.
And when you homeschool motivation is pretty much a key word!
Today our topic is Motivation.
And when you homeschool motivation is pretty much a key word!
Let's look at the definition for a minute:
Now what is the ONE thing you do NOT see in that definition?
Do you see following a "strict order of rules", "conforming to the masses" OR "taking the easy way"?
No!
What you see are POSITIVES- enthusiasm, determination, initiative, inspiration.
Those SAME words could quite easy define our faith!
And there is a VERY valid reason for that- when God calls you to homeschool (and do NOT let anyone fool you by saying it is NOT a calling), you trust your faith in him, that you are making the right choice. And in that moment of faith, YOUR motivation is formed.
It's JUST that simple.
We can all give countless reasons for WHY we homeschool, but when it comes down to really talking about them, we will all admit the same thing- we felt compelled by God to lead our children down a path set by him, not a path set by a committee of people of different values and beliefs.
THAT compelling feeling, that motivation from WITHIN, is what will lead you thru the struggles, the guessing, the doubting, the looking at too many Pinterest postings (trust me- BEEN there!), the questioning if you did the right thing by homeschooling.
And no matter what obstacle is set before us, we have to remember that the path worth taking is never easy, but always fulfilling, if we hold to our faith and motivation to BE on that path. Your children will surprise in your darkest moment of homeschooling by turning to you and sounding like Einstein speaking on an obscure Science subject, and letting you know you ARE doing the right thing, even if they regress back to dull stares 15 minutes later! LOL.
But most likely those 'aha moments' will come in public, when your children will surprise you with their thoughtfulness, grace and compassion, and it won't matter that you've skipped English this week because the baby was sick, or that you didn't finish 8 unit studies. Seeing your child spreading God's light and truth?
There is NO better motivation than that, to keep on what you're doing!
Because it doesn't matter if your child is the smartest in the room, if they are a person no one wants to be around. But a child who bring joy to those around them, who walks in God's truth? Isn't that what we all TRULY want for our children?
So take a deep breath and BREATHE.
You've got this!
Keep your faith, your motivation, and God will set before your children what they need, when they need it, and all will work itself out!

I hope this moment of encouragement helped you today!
