Did you know?
Did you know?
- One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
- Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women.
- Each year it is estimated that over 250,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. That number has INCREASED by 10,000 every year!
- Breast cancer doesn’t limit itself to October, and neither does the need for funding research.
Our friends over at Carpet One Floor & Home know this, so a few years ago, they came up with a great way to not only keep awareness in the public eye, but to send much needed money for research:
Their Pink Ribbon Welcome A Cure welcome mat concept allows designers the chance to design an amazing mat each year, which includes the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon. This exclusive collection of 2x3' , Made-in-USA, welcome matsare sold for $29.99, and 25% of each mat's sale, goes to funding breast cancer research through 5-star Charity Navigator-rated Breast Cancer Research Fund (BCRF)
This year, Carpet One designers have created 20 welcome mats with four themes – Farmhouse, Modern, Classic and Bohemian. The question is: Are you more Modern - Daring Deco Chic or Classic Evergreen? Maybe you like a look of Farmhouse and Home Sweet Home or have a flair for Boho with our World Peace carpet? Whatever your style, there's a mat to fit it!
To date, the company has raised over $1 million from mat sales! Talk about supporting a cure! This year we checked out a sample from the Bohemian Collection, Peace:
I love the deep red and gold coloring- it's perfect for fall, and for the upcoming season, but also matches our furniture, so I know it will be fine for all year round as well!
And as you can see, it has somebody else's stamp of approval. The first 2 days we had the mat, she pretty much stayed on it! LOL. Then the dog took over! I'm not sure what is in the rug, but it's definitely welcoming! We've had quite a few people in the house this week, and they've all commented how pretty it is. Though honesty, half thought it was a chicken foot, not a peace sign. SIGH, that's what happens when you live in the country and farmhouse if chic again! LOL.
These Carpet One Floor & Home exclusive Welcome a Cure mats are COMPLETELY machine washable, are backed with rubber and can be used inside and outside! I like how they stick well to the carpet we have down (low low pile) and don't move, making them great for inside the door, to catch what the outer mat missed! And because they are so easy to take care of, there's no worries! We have washed and washed, and NOT worn out Welcome a Cure rugs! These rugs are made SO well! There have been NO changes to them at all- they come out clean and looking brand new, EVERY time we wash them! And it is so easy to clean them- just throw in the wash, then let hang dry. Can't be easier!
Each mat is made in the USA and proudly marked with a pink ribbon, the internationally recognized symbol for breast cancer awareness. So everyone will know you support this valuable research! The Welcome a Cure mats are available at Carpet One Floor & Home stores, the largest locally and family owned flooring store co-op in North America (U.S. and Canada).

About The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®:
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) advances the world's most promising research to eradicate breast cancer in our lifetime. Founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993, BCRF has raised more than $500 million to fuel discoveries in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, survivorship and metastasis. This year, we invested $45 million in the work of more than 200 researchers at leading medical institutions across six continents. By spending 91 cents of every dollar on research and public awareness, BCRF remains one of the nation's most fiscally responsible charities. They are the only breast cancer organization with an "A+" from CharityWatch, and have been awarded a 5-star rating from Charity Navigator.
