The Bloated Belly Whisperer cover

Synopsis:
Bloating: ugh. About the most common complaint they get from patients, according to gastroenterologists. But Tamara Duker Freuman, a highly trained and sought-after nutritionist, knows something many doctors don’t: every unhappy belly is unhappy in its own way. That’s why Tamara’s clients call her “The Bloated Belly Whisperer,” and for good reason—for many years she’s successfully helped her clients accurately describe their symptoms, and find a course of treatment that delivers rapid and lasting relief.
In The Bloated Belly Whisperer, Tamara guides readers through the same steps she would use in a consultation, first with a quiz to help them hone in on their specific symptoms, and then by discussing the latest research and patient stories to offer dozens of solutions that will reduce abdominal bloating in a week or less by:
- Helping identify the specific cause of bloating
- Equipping readers with the right terminology and questions to take to their next doctor’s visit
- Teaching the most effective dietary remedies for each particular brand of bloating
- Laying out the tools and healthy practices to end abdominal distress and bloating once and for all

Review:

I love that Tamara takes on the basics first in this book, explaining EXACTLY what happens in each part of your digestive tract. Then she breaks down her chapters in relation to that- upper digestive issues, middle, and lower ones. She offers 10 primary problems, their symptoms, typical medications (and why those meds may fail), what you should be eating, and tests that your doctor needs to do, to verify THAT is the actual issue you are having. Plus she gives you a basic quiz to try to narrow down which ones you need to start with!

I was interested to read this book, as Miss Grace has suffered from reflux literally all of her life and when puberty started, she started with horrendous bloating and while we have been able to resolve most of the issue, she has periodic flareups that leave the doctor scratching her head as well. In this book i found out that her medications may be the issue. Who knew certain probiotics could make some people's stomachs worse? Tamara offers a better choice, which we will be picking up, to see if that could be part of the simple solution for her flareups! This ties in with what we thought was a gluten sensitivity, that may be more of a yeast issue. If it works, this will be a total change for her, and for her diet, ending a cycle of bad choices and pain!

This is a really interesting and informative book, and if you, or anyone you know suffers from gastric distress and bloating, this book may just have the answers they NEED! So get them on the right track for the new year, by giving them this book, this holiday season!
