Synopsis:

A small Southern town. A dark secret.
Whiskey distiller and nerdy wallflower Harley Henrickson's life is upended when she discovers a disoriented stranger in the ditch, mumbling about a lost boy, a boy who was "innocent." When the man disappears into the woods, Harley is left only with unanswered questions. Who was the mysterious man, and what happened to the innocent boy?
As she digs deeper, she discovers the stranger, in reality, was no stranger at all, and had ties to many highly-esteemed citizens in town. When one of those citizens, a wealthy history professor, is murdered, Harley decides to investigate. What she discovers is a multitude of secrets, lies, and sins, dating back decades, and revolving around a handsome and brooding rock star who has chosen Notchey Creek as his new home. Filled with humor, heart-rending moments, and a charming small town setting in the Great Smoky Mountains, The Mist Rises Over Notchey Creek is sure to please fans of traditional and cozy mysteries.

Review:

This book isn't quite sure what it wants to be- it's part mystery, part chick-lit, part small town fiction-and all those parts make for an interesting read! It's a book that starts slow, like a good whiskey, and then makes the reader burn to find out what will happen next, and they find themselves reading long into the night! Harley is a character in more ways than one- she's flawed, but charming. She's a character you look forward to reading about again and again! her family and the cast of small town characters will be familiar to those in any small Southern town, but Liz gives the town spice with the arrival of Beau. Only more than spice comes with him. As secrets come to light and the mystery weaves its tale, the reader will find themselves enchanted with Notchey Creek and hungry for the next installment (The Ghosts of Notchey Creek), which is sure to answer the questions left in readers' minds in this one!
