Review:

I would put this book at the 3rd to 6th grade level, depending on how science orientated your child is. For my 11 yr old, who is 2 years ahead on science, it was more of a review, with tidbits here and there she didn't know, that interested her. It features excellent diagrams that really help explain the different functions, anatomies and designs being discussed, so that even if the terminology is new, the concept can be understood. The comparison models especially are very good, like the one showing the differences between bird and human muscle. The pictures are bright and engaging, and will have your student turning the page to see what is next!

The student text features short chapters and a few experiments. My daughter tens to be experiment driven-when she started homeschooling that was the first thing we did and at a point we've done 4 or 5 PER week, so she really likes them. So if your child is the same, you may need to hunt for ones to add to the reading. There are no included quizzes or tests either, you would need the Teachers Guide for those.

We both loved how Christianity and the bible was incorporated into the book. This is a great resource for families with multiple age children, as it can be used by different ages, in different ways- either as curriculum, or as a bonus resource. It fits well into the Masterbooks multi-volume Wonders of Creation science line, for a full elementary Science curriculum (although Masterbooks lists it as a middle school text). It is available in book form, or in PDF download, for easy use on your child's device or computer.
