The APOLLO 11 Mission is celebrating 50 years this year!!

And to honor the amazing feat, a group of cinematographers was able to pull the original government films (many of which have NEVER been seen by the public), and through a new process, bring them to amazing color, and richness. You actually feel like you are RIGHT there at lift off.

The film is SO beautiful, that your kids might not even realize just how educational it is! And since we don't have the same type of NASA missions, it gives them a chance to experience history for themselves in a really unique way! Check out a video featuring Director Todd Douglas Miller, and the filmmakers talking about the movie:

The movie is already in theaters, so find it nearby this weekend, and bring back the excitement of the Space program to your family!

About Apollo 11:

Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. It was launched from Cape Kennedy on July 16, 1969, and 4 days later, commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Edwin (“Buzz”) Aldrin, Jr., became the first people to land on the Moon, via the Eagle lunar lander, while command module pilot Michael Collins kept the Columbia in orbit, for their return home. The astronauts also brought back the first samples from the moon. Apollo 11 achieved its primary mission, to perform a manned lunar landing and return the mission safely to Earth on July 24. It was the first NASA Mission to be televised entirely.
