As I've shared with you here on BTHM before, The Old Schoolhouse® not only offers some amazing online courses for your kids (of all ages), but also courses to help YOU be a better parent, teacher and spouse! But one of their secret treasures has always been their school year planner. This year's version, by Gena Suarez, titled Hey, Mama! Homeschool Planner for 2019/20 Year is such a GREAT one, that it is ALMOST SOLD OUT! And the school year hasn't even started!
Every school year planner includes some of the basic same info, like a calendar to write assignments, but the extras is what REALLY sets this planner apart! I'm going to show you what makes it so special, and different from traditional school year planners, but first look at what ALL is included in the planner:
Yup, that is a LOT on one 8x11 planner! But if you have multiple kids, THIS planner can help you get everything in ONE place and make it uber simple to stay organized and keep your homeschool running smoothly this 2019-2020 school year!
What I really like about this planner, is that it is starts just that way- to PLAN out your school year! You get a curriculum planning page, so that you know what you are teaching, and what resources you are using with each class, and you also get yearly and semester goal pages. So that you and your students can decide what mindset goals and educational ones they want to achieve!
And it keeps MOM in mind, and has over 20 devotionals included in the pages to remind Mo of what is important, to breathe and to accept God's design in your homeschool! Having glanced at them all, I can see where they will REALLY help you out when times get tough during the year!
Then you get into the traditional planner. You get monthly note sections that allow you to write any extras that might not fit on the calendar pages, or that you need to be planning for (like making Christmas presents, or starting science fair projects). As you can see the calendar squares are pretty standard size. But then, this is where the bonus comes in - you ALSO get a weekly calendar section! You can use it for extra-curriculars, or for more detailed lessons plans for up to 3 kids! Yup, you have 3 sections, so ALL of your kids' can be in ONE book. Yes, I did hear your 'Hallalealeuh!"
Now obviously I only have the one child, so for us, what I am planning on doing is going back to a college block system of planning, and putting all of Miss Grace's calendar items in the regular section, and then all her lesson plans in the weekly one. That way, we aren't having to rewrite weekly plans, when schedules get crazy and behind. Rather she can just put checks by all that is finished, and be able to look back and see what still needs to be done! We've tried separate plans, but things can get lost, stained or ruined, and a planner just seem to be a better idea! Plus this way, she knows it is MY planner, and it has to stay on my desk, and she can just use her ipad to take a daily photos of what she needs to do, then check off in the planner, at the end of the week. NO repeated writing out new weekly pages for me! YEAH! Time saver 101!
Another great thing about this amazing planner is the record keeping sections! Not only do you get a 3 year (yes, I said THREE year!) calendar so you can track dates for this school year AND next year's, you also get an attendance record sheet! It's super easy to use, and block out holidays and vacation days! But what I really love is having the HIGH SCHOOL transcript page! While Miss Grace is only in 7th (sorta 8th too) grade this upcoming year, I have to keep an idea on what her high school courses are, to plan for this year and next. With all this record keeping, instead of having multiple binders, I can have the items I really NEED to access, ALL in one easy to transport (ie much thinner than a binder) planner!
So all together, this planner is EXACTLY what I need to not only streamline middle school for Miss Grace, but to keep us BOTH more organized! And that is what makes this Hey, Mama! Homeschool Planner for 2019/20 Year SO SO special!
But don't just take my word for it! See how my fellow homeschool moms are planning to use it with multiple kids in their families, by clicking the picture below:
