Review:

Earlier this week I shared a mindfulness book that was great for tweens on up. THIS book is for the more mature brain, teen/college age on up. Different from other books we've shared, this is a workbook in progress for adults. Not only does Jill teach from her own experience, she gives you great tips on how to deal with anxiety, and then has you go over what did/didn't happen, and how you can change your response the next time. This teaches you to understand what you could have done better, and lead you to the right response the next time. Admittedly I did use some of the techniques on Miss Grace- especially the tell your brain "we're not doing that anymore", as she has been working toward a goal, and was not trusting herself. As long as she kept telling herself she didn't need to shrink from being showcased, her true talents came out for everyone to see! We've also used the 'do the opposite of what your gremlins tell you to do', to help her tamp down her immediate flight response when confronted with something she doesn't want to do, and to take a breathe and try to respond better. It's a book for everyone, no matter how bad your stress and anxiety, there is something in the book for everyone!
