Review:
Sometimes authors have a hard time keeping an ongoing series not only fresh, but interesting and page turning. Crombie never fails! in this outing Duncan and Gemma actually go on vacation, but like real-life, their profession is never far off, and always there. In this book we get to meet Melody's parents, and learn more about not only her upbringing, but why she acts like she does. As tragedy strikes with Duncan, and deaths keep coming, and Duncan's team starts to investigate, secrets come out that have been long kept hidden, for better and worse. And along the way, Duncan gets to learn not only about melody, but about his son Kit, and his ambitions for life. It's important for Duncan to learn more about them both, and as the killer gets more brazen, the need to protect everyone becomes tantamount. This is another great page turner, and one that is perfect for holiday and Fall reading!
