Easy Grammar Systems Make Grammar EASY! (Curriculum Review)

I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review.  I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way.  All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family.  I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.

Continuiing with out focus on teens this week, I'm got a GREAT English Grammar program to share with you, that not only makes Grammar a breeze, but makes it EAST to understand, for both YOU and your child:

We have used the  Easy Grammar Systems before both for 5th grade, and last year, so I was thrilled to be able to check out an upper level course, Easy Grammar Ultimate Series:  Grade 11 with Easy Grammar Ultimate Series:  Grade 11 Test Booklet, for this year, as Miss Grace has done SO well with the system, she is actually 4 grades AHEAD! That is both a testament to how well the system works, and how she adapted to it!

Easy Grammar Ultimate Series: Grade 11 set

Let me tell some about it first!

The concept behind Easy Grammar is to introduce common prepositions, and undertsanding what tehy are, in order to better understand what is LEFT in a sentence. While this might seem a bit backward, from the traditional way that we all learned grammar (noun, adjective, verb, adverb, etc), we actually found that that when Miss Grace found the preoposition and deleted it, she could SEE the different parts of a sentence and not only diagram them (!!!), but be able to ecxplain WHY she did so!  The GOAL is to build basic level understanding, and then each new section adds to it. The goal is 2-3 lessons per week, with added worksheets for older kids. Then with each grade level, the concepts are gone over again, and more is added, so it is a natural progression of learning.

Grades 1-2 have a teacher book that allows you to teach alongside your student, with exercises as you go along to make the concepts stick. Elementary teacher editions contain teaching instructions, and then when you turn the page, you have the worksheet answers below the student questions on the left, and the student workpage on the right.  You can purchase the separate student workbook to save you from making copies of the student pages, or you can print them ut as you like. Tests are also included  in the teacher edition. From 3rd grade on, besdies the courseboo, there is the additional Daily GRAMS texts, that provide additional daily reviews (180 lessons), that are simple and easy to complete in udner 10 minutes! These sheets include capitalization, punctuation, grammar concepts analogies, and sentence combining> I can tell you, Miss Grace

I LOVE having capitalization and punctuation covered EVERY day, to keep her skills up, as she used text to speech, so it is important for her to remember writing rules, for when she NEEDS them, both in writing and editing! The analagies help students enrich their vocabulary! It seems backwards, but my dyslexic child has THRIVED under this system, and her end of the year test scores prove that it WORKS! In 4th grade when we started homeschooling, she was below level on grammar. By the end of 5th grade, using the 5th grade level, she had jumped to in between 6th and 7th level. By the end of 6th grade, she was up to high school level! That is a system that WORKS my frends. Plus, her vocabulary scores have remained at high school level for the past 2 years! I do make her look up words she doesn't know, so the anaalgies also function as vocabulary for her! Love 2-n1s!

The Easy Grammar Ultimate Series (Grades 8-12+) for high school levels is different in that the teacher text is gone, and lessons are included in teh student workbook, alongside the workpages, in a similar style to their  Daily GRAMS. You still get the same 180 lessons, and they are still about 10 inutes in lentgh, but now your stduent can work through them and review, all by themselves! YEAH! The idea is that at this level, students are doing more reading and writing for Literature class, and only need review and practice, versus actual lessons. As Miss Grace is moving to that level already, this level really works for her. She will probably move to Grade 12 next year.
The Test Booklet has reproducible student review (quiz) and test pages, along with the answers in the back.. So you could even have your student grade their own papers!

For this year, Mis Grace divides the lessons up into 3 on one day, and 2 plus test on the second. This works for her, and allows review and skill assessment for me. So far there hasn't been anything she doesn't know already. There may be things more about mid year, but those will be easy to teach, thanks to the simple lessons and examples in the student book!

Once you try this system with you child, you'll see how simple and EASY grammar really CAN be! But don't just take our word for it, see what my fellow reviewers thought by clicking the picture below:
